Why have we chosen for our kennel the name Alpha Canis Majoris?

α (Alpha) Canis Majoris is a Latin designation for Sirius, which is also known as the “Dog Star“, situated in its constellation Canis Major (the Greater Dog). The association with dogs is then obvious.

But more interesting thing is that Sirius – Alpha Canis Majoris is also the brightest star in the night sky. We have chosen this name, because we wanted our dogs to shine as bright as  the star Alpha Canis Majoris. They can shine in dog sports or hunting, but they will always be the brightest stars to their families, even if they are not pilling up awards.
